Research Interests

Neurodegenerative diseases and especially Parkinson disease (PD) are my research interests. My current researches are focused on design and development of naturally-occurring polyphenols-based nanoparticles with the aim to modulate amyloid fibrillation process of peptides/proteins associated with amyloid-related neurological diseases. Investigation of the potency of these nanoparticles to protect mitochondria, as an organelle significantly involved in the onset and progress of neurodegenerative diseases, against detrimental effects of amyloid fibrils is my other major research interest. Another part of my researches is to study the therapeutic properties of these nanoparticles on the cellular and animal models of PD induced by rotenone.

Current Projects

  • Investigation of the effect of aging and diet on the response of rat brain mitochondria to toxicity induced by α-synuclein amyloid fibrils.
  • Investigation of the effect of Iranian green tea polyphenol-based nanoparticles on the fibrillation process of human insulin and α-synuclein.
  • A comparative study on the effect of commercial and natural Silymarin nanosheets on the fibrillation process of human insulin and α-synuclein.
  • An investigation on the toxicity of α-synuclein amyloid fibrils on mitochondria in the presence and absence of some natural polyphenols-based nanosheets.
  • Neuroprotective effect of propolis polyphenols-based nanosheets in a cellular model of Parkinson's disease induced by rotenone.
  • Protective effect of green tea polyphenols-based nanoparticles on the fibrillation process of α-synuclein as well as cytotoxicity on cellular model of Parkinson's disease induced by rotenone.
