FAQ
Q: How do I download the
file?
A:
Simply put the tip of your
mouse pointer on the file name and CLICK with your left
mouse button. A window will probably open asking you to Save to Disk or
something like that. Save the
file to
the folder you have created on any of your hard drives (D, E, etc.;
preferably not C but it's all right if you want).

Instructions for
Windows users
New simulation file
(23 September 2006)
Restricted Solid-on-Solid (RSOS)
Computer
simulation of atomistic growth in 1+1 dimensions
(This means
that we're dropping particles on a line of atoms. ☺) |
-
Create a folder (call it
anything you like,
rsos1d_65k, say) in
one of
your hard drives (preferably not
C).
-
Download rsos65536_1d_4l_8l_50r_mine_outside_general.exe
[temporarily
disconnected]
to the folder you have created (please see the Q&A table on the left) .
This
file has been written in Fortran95 and is ready
to use.
-
To start the
simulations, double click the
file in the
folder,
that's it!
You can stop
the program and continue it
again later, any number of times you
want! |
If
you let the program be and if you do not turn your
computer off,
it'll run for a few weeks and
will store the results of its calculations in the downloaded folder. |
-
To continue
the program,
double click the
file in the downloaded folder again;
just that!
-
Deliver the results (which
will be in
the same folder you created)
every week, every two weeks, every three weeks, or monthly:
-
on CD, or
-
on flash
memory, memory stick,
cool disk, etc., or
-
by email (preferably after
zipping the files).

If you have been running my programs
on your computer, please

otherwise I would not open the message for fear of viruses. Or you can phone
