Research areas:

  1. Atmospheric remote sensing and dust transport

For the moment, I am directing the activities of the atmospheric remote sensing laboratory of IASBS. This laboratory is equipped with:

We have focused on monitoring dust activities as well as their transport over the Iran plateau. We are also interested on monitoring atmospheric particulate matters in the large cities of Iran by optical remote sensing techniques.

During the past years, our group has participated in the data validation program of the CALISPO satellite. In addition, we joined to the AERONET by registering our sunphotometer in the network. Our remote sensing laboratory at the IASBS also is a partner of World Meteorological Organization , Sand and Dust Storm Warning Advisory and Assessment System ( WMO SDS-WAS) program. We are planning to establish a network of optical remote sensing suites in Iran to characterize dust activities in west Asia.

  1. Nucleation and growth of noble metals nano-clusters inside a glass matrix and their interaction with high power laser beams.

We are using the ion-exchange process to implant the nano sized silver clusters inside a soda-lime glass matrix. We have studied the evolution of these clusters under the influence of:

We have used the interaction of high-power CW lasers and the ion-exchanged glasses to make micro-sized channels over the glass surface. Also it has been observed that such media can work as a coupler between the spin and orbital angular momentum of light.
