Stimuli-responsive or “smart” polymers have become one of the most important research fields in recent years. These polymers respond to stimuli such as light, temperature, pH, and gases by changing their physical or chemical properties.

The research group of Dr. Amin Abdollahi focuses on stimuli-responsive polymers, especially light-responsive systems based on photochromic and fluorescent organic compounds. These materials are synthesized via emulsion polymerization, self-assembly, and RAFT/ATRP polymerization techniques.

Applications include chemical sensors, smart nano-inks, drug delivery systems, fluorescence imaging, and antibacterial materials.
