About

My primary research interest lies in the field of sedimentary basins analysis. I study all factors relating to the "production" of sediment using combination of different methods such as mineralogy, elemental and isotope geochemistry, and geochronology. Results can answer questions about what the Earth was like in the past. I am particularly interested in study of climate, tectonic, and environmental changes at the end of Precambrian to the early Phanerozoic, and their influence on sudden appearance of multi-cellular life on Earth.

My recent research focuses on: (1) studying Ediacaran-Cambrian sedimentary rocks of Iran including the Kahar, Bayandor, Soltanieh, and Barut formations to understand paleoenvironmental change across the PC-C boundary; (2) Investigating provenance and paleoenvironment of the Cenozoic sedimentary rocks in Central Iran basin to reconstruct tectonic evolution of Iran during continent-continent collision of Arabia-Eurasia.
