Associate Professor of Physics

Department of Physics , Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences

I am a theoretical physicist working on gravity, black hole physics, and quantum field theory. My research explores gravitational systems in regimes where horizons, thermodynamics, holography, and quantum effects intersect.

I am also committed to physics education and to developing clear and interactive teaching materials for advanced physics courses.

Research Interests

A common theme in my work is the use of symmetries, conservation laws, and geometric methods to understand physical systems ranging from black holes and gravitational theories to fluids and effective field theories.

Gravitational Physics and Black Holes

My research focuses on black holes, gravitational dynamics, and the thermodynamic aspects of spacetime. I am interested in how entropy, temperature, conserved charges, and phase transitions reveal connections between general relativity, quantum theory, and statistical physics.

Symmetries, Charges, and Continuum Systems

I study symmetries and conservation laws in gravitational and continuum systems, especially in the presence of boundaries, horizons, or effective gauge structures. This includes gravitational charges, Noether methods, covariant phase space techniques, and generalized symmetries in systems such as fluids and shallow water.

Holography and Quantum Information

I explore holographic approaches to gravity and their relation to quantum information. In particular, I am interested in how entanglement, complexity, and thermalization are encoded in gravitational geometries and black-hole spacetimes.

Modified Gravity and Beyond-Einstein Theories

I work on extensions of general relativity, including higher-curvature gravity, quasi-topological gravity, and scalar-tensor theories. These models provide useful settings for testing how robust thermodynamic, symmetry-based, and holographic structures remain when the underlying gravitational dynamics is modified.

Prospective Students, Postdoctoral Researchers & Projects

I welcome inquiries from motivated MSc and PhD students interested in gravity, black-hole physics, holography, symmetries, and related areas of theoretical physics. Prospective students are encouraged to get in touch with a brief description of their background, research interests, and possible direction.

I am also happy to hear from prospective postdoctoral researchers with interests in related topics. Possible collaborations may involve black-hole thermodynamics, gravitational charges, holography, modified gravity, generalized symmetries, or continuum systems. Postdoctoral opportunities are subject to available funding and institutional procedures.

In addition to larger research projects, I am open to small, well-defined scientific-computing projects, especially Mathematica-based tools and packages for symbolic calculations in theoretical physics. I am also interested in AI and neural-network approaches to physical systems, particularly when machine learning can be combined with analytical methods, geometric structures, or symbolic computation. These projects may be suitable for students who would like to combine physics with computation, package design, machine learning, or interactive educational tools.

Interested students and researchers are welcome to contact me by email.
