Chemistry Department

The Department of Chemistry at the IASBS started its formal activities in fall 1999 with five Master’s students and five faculty members. This was just seven years after the opening of the Institute. The courses initially focused in two areas, analytical chemistry, and organic chemistry. In the winter of 2005, our first group of Ph.D. students started their studies. Currently, the Department is working in six different disciplines: Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Nano Chemistry, and Polymer Chemistry.

Dr. Habib Kazemi

(Head of the Chemistry Department)

The Chemistry Department has broad collaborations and international relations with other Universities in various parts of the world and has signed academic agreements with some of them to facilitate visits and collaborations for students and faculty members. Our activities have relevance to a wide-range of challenges such as those in porous catalyst synthesis, energy storage and conversion research, fuel cells and solar cells, synthetic compounds, sensors and environmental issues.
