National Exemplary Faculty Award granted to Department of Chemistry academic

Prof Babak Karimi, a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS), has been named a recipient of the National Exemplary Faculty Award. The award was conferred on Tuesday, 16 Ordibehesht 1404 (6 May 2025) during the 32nd National Ceremony Honouring Exemplary Faculty Members at universities and higher education institutions.

This ceremony, held at the Allameh Amini Hall of the Central Campus Library and Documentation Centre at the University of Tehran, was attended by the First Vice President, Dr Mohammad Reza Aref; the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Dr Hossein Simayee; the Head of the Supreme Leader’s Representative Office in Universities, Dr Mostafa Rostami; and the Head of the Board of Trustees and Promotions Committees at the Ministry of Science, Dr Ali Khaki-Seddigh. In total, 30 of the country’s top lecturers across various scientific disciplines were recognised and honoured.

Prof Babak Karimi received the award in the field of Organic Chemistry, having published more than 220 scientific-research papers in domestic and international journals, over 50 papers presented at national and international conferences, and having led more than 15 research projects as the principal investigator. He has also authored, compiled, and translated two academic books, and supervised over 90 master’s students and more than 30 PhD candidates.

The University administration extends its congratulations to all IASBS faculty members, particularly Prof Babak Karimi, on this achievement, and wishes him continued success in all scientific and academic endeavours.
