The Computer Center is on the second floor of the Physics Department (next to the Physics computer site). This Center provides the following services to the members of the university.
Torkaman Library was established in 1993. It contains a useful combination of specialized and general books, bilingual dictionaries, and specialized and general encyclopedias.
The Education Office comes under the Education and Research Department. Its main job is to manage the educational affairs of the students from registration to graduation.

Dr Shiva Akbari-Birgani, a faculty member of the Biological Sciences Department, and her colleagues (Dr Saeed Mohammedi, a faculty member at Tehran Medical University, and Ms Zahra Madadi, an MSc student of biochemistry at the IASBS) have designed a dual purpose biosensor that can carry out gene therapy and live cell imaging simultaneously. The new biosensor has been registered as an invention after scientific evaluation at the Centre for Intellectual Property.
Today, biosensors are valuable systems applicable in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, and cell imaging. Biosensors are in fact biological molecules capable of detecting and reporting a specific signal.
In this work, a biosensor containing two engineered genes is constructed. It can simultaneously induce cell death in a cancer cell and report it. The research findings of this study have been published in the Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications (BBRC) journal.
This dual purpose biosensor can be implemented in medical research and development, especially to identify cancer therapeutic approaches.
