The IASBS Board of Directors has met with IASBS students. In an interactive virtual session held on Wednesday morning, 8 July 2020, the IASBS Board of Directors met with the IASBS students to establish more effective communication and to promote more active participation by the student body in order to improve the administrative process and education and research in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this meeting, which was attended by a considerable number of students and some University directors, the IASBS President, Prof Babak Karimi, described the steps taken by the University on prevention and treatment during the Covid-19 pandemic. On the provision of support for the students, he outlined the measures taken by the University to prepare for the return of the students.
He also described the efforts made by the Computer Centre to set up the necessary platforms to deliver virtual education to the students. Prof Karimi said the University was providing each student with a free 100 GB Internet package to keep them connected.
The other measures of note mentioned in the meeting were the four-phase plan to return the students to the University within the framework of the protocols laid down by the Health and Safety Committees and the IASBS Board of Directors. Phase one has already started with the return of the PhD students and provision of accommodation, food and welfare for them.
In the Q & A session, student representatives put forward views and suggestions regarding educational issues including the facilities provided for distance learning and virtual exams following which the members of the Board of Directors answered some of the questions posed. It was decided that the suggestions and the points raised would be discussed in the relevant committees in order to find suitable mechanisms to help reduce student problems in education and research and especially with the IASBS virtual education platform.
In conclusion, the IASBS President expressed pleasure at meeting with the students and thank them for their active presence emphasising the need to hold virtual meetings between the IASBS Board of Directors and the students at shorter intervals.
