The Iranian National Observatory (INO) is to be inaugurated on Monday, 28 July 2021 by the Iranian President. The IASBS Founder and Physics faculty, and the Founder of the Biruni Observatory in Shiraz, Professor Yousef Sobouti, will also be attending the ceremony.
The INO is located 33 km southwest of the city of Kashan, 12 km west of Ghamsar city, and 7 km northeast of the city of Kamu-and-Chogaan (Jowsheqaan), on Gargash Peak 3600 metres tall, which is among the highest peaks of the Karkas mountains.
The INO Telescope is a structure 11 metres high and 6.5 metres in diameter that tracks celestial objects with an accuracy of about 0.2 arcseconds (0.00005 degrees) even under windy conditions.
