The IASBS students’ Helia Astronomical Society together with the IASBS Science House and the Cultural Affairs Section have organised an event to observe the August supermoon, the so-called blue moon, and the visible planets of the solar system. The event took place at the IASBS from dusk to midnight of the 30th of August 2023.
In this event, two specialised portable telescopes were used for public observation in the open area adjacent to Torkaman Library. As in previous years, the overwhelming participation of students and the people of Zanjaan in this event was an added credit in this observation programme.
During the course of the evening, the main observation was efforts were focused on the supermoon. Secondary observations were made of the visible planets of the solar system and other galaxies. Navigation training and identification of celestial objects and constellations were also offered to those interested.
