The Alimohammadi Prize was established by the Institute for Research in  Fundamental Sciences (IPM) in 2011. The Physical Society of Iran (PSI) collaborates in the event. The Prize is granted to PhD theses researched entirely within the country leading to a viva within three years of the award date. The Prize has been set up to commemorate the academic endeavours of the martyred Tehran University lecturer, Dr Masoud Alimohammadi, who was the first physicist to receive a PhD degree at an Iranian university.

The Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) congratulates the Iranian academic community and Dr Taghilou for this achievement.
