The Governor of Zanjan, Dr Mohsen Sadeghi, and an accompanying delegation have visited the IASBS. In this meeting, which took place on Monday, 29 September 2025, the governor described the IASBS as a national asset and emphasised the importance of its role in the development of science, technology, and knowledge-based economy.
During the meeting, the IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, welcomed the guests and highlighted the University’s outstanding features, including its focus on basic sciences and its leading educational and research indicators. He stressed the importance of developing educational, research, and welfare infrastructure, such as upgrading the dormitories, enhancing the quality of the drinking water resources, monitoring security, and expanding the laboratories. He also outlined the University’s major projects, including the National Reference Laboratory, the Data Centre, the development of the Science and Technology Park, and the Science Corridor.
The Governor, in turn, praised the University’s capabilities and achievements, describing it as a national asset for the province and the country. He said, “The IASBS, as one of the country’s leading universities in basic sciences, is not only a pioneer in producing knowledge but also plays a key role in addressing strategic issues in the province in the field of advanced technologies. It can significantly contribute to realising the knowledge-based economy, sustainable development, and the internationalisation of the province.” He also referred to the policies of the fourteenth government, saying, “Decentralisation and increasing the powers of the provinces are key priorities of the government. The Zanjan Governorate will use all its capacities to support this University in its path to becoming a hub for advanced technologies.”
Following the meeting, the Governor and his delegation visited the University’s Science and Technology Park and familiarised themselves with the achievements, capacities, and challenges facing the technology units and knowledge-based companies. During the visit, issues such as investment in new technologies, removing legal barriers, and supporting the province’s technology ecosystem were discussed. The visit concluded with a tour of the Department of Physics and the University’s specialised laboratories, where the University’s educational and research capabilities were presented.
