In line with the development of educational and research cooperation between the industry and the academia, a memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the IASBS and Iran Transfo Industrial Group. The agreement was signed by the IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, and the CEO of Iran Transfo Industrial Group, Dr Mehdi Sadeghi. The memorandum emphasises the importance of the implementation of research and applied projects tailored to the needs of the country’s electrical industry, as well as the training of specialised human resources.

During the meeting, Prof Nasiri Gheydari introduced the University’s national and international achievements and emphasised the importance of supporting the “Basic Sciences and New Technologies Research Institute”, enhancing the University’s physical security and infrastructure, and supporting national projects such as the Data Centre and the National Reference Laboratory. He also highlighted the role of benefactors and the constructive interaction between the University and provincial managers to turn Zanjan into a national academic hub.

Commemorating the martyrs and acknowledging the importance of basic sciences in the country’s technological advancements, Dr Sadeghi said, “The IASBS, as the only specialised basic sciences university in the country, plays a crucial role in the development of knowledge and technology. We at Iran Transfo Industrial Group believe that achieving cutting-edge technologies and localising products is not possible without effective collaboration with academic and scientific centres.” He also spoke about the Group’s efforts in indiginising industrial transformers and launching innovation institutions, including the Corporate Venture Capital Fund, and planning for the establishment of the “Betrans Innovation Factory”. He emphasised the need for defining joint projects and closer cooperation with the University.

Following the signing ceremony, Dr Sadeghi and his delegation visited the University’s Science and Technology Park. They familiarised themselves with the capabilities and challenges of the technology units and stressed the importance of supporting the innovation ecosystem and investing in new technologies. The visit concluded with a tour of the Department of Physics, specialised laboratories, and the IASBS Library, where the University’s educational and research capabilities were showcased.
