The Department of Earth Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) has held two specialised workshops on “Climate Change and Water Resource Management” and “The Role of Remote Sensing in Scientific Studies, Exploration, and Natural Hazard Management.” The workshops took place on Wednesday and Thursday, 22 and 23 October 2025.
The events were attended by undergraduate students of geology, surveying, water engineering, mining engineering, and civil engineering from across the country. A total of 38 students from prominent universities, including Shahid Beheshti University, University of Tabriz, Iran University of Science and Technology, University of Urmia, University of Zanjan, and Hamadan University of Technology, actively participated in the programme.
The workshops were conducted under the supervision of faculty members of the Hydrogeology and Geological Remote Sensing groups at the Department of Earth Sciences, focusing on practical training and scientific lectures. The main objective of these programmes has been to enhance the students’ professional skills and to familiarise them with modern educational and research approaches in Earth sciences.
Holding such academic and practical workshops is regarded as an effective step towards increasing inter-university educational interactions and raising students’ academic standards in specialised fields of Earth sciences.
