Zanjan’s Provincial Police Commander, Brigadier General Mohammad Taraqiyeh, has visited the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) and held discussions with the university leadership. The meeting was held to examine opportunities for scientific, research and technological cooperation between the university and the police force.
At the beginning of the visit, The IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, expressed his appreciation for the efforts and contributions of the police force and said, ‘Ethics, commitment, expertise and patriotism are among the outstanding qualities of police commanders, and the university is ready to employ its academic capabilities to address real societal challenges.’ He emphasised that directing some of the university’s theses and research projects towards security, social and technological issues could strengthen joint cooperation.
Brigadier General Taraghiyeh, in his remarks, referred to the society’s transition from traditional structures towards development and said, ‘The police must also move from a traditional, experience-based model towards an intelligent police force. Many crimes today have shifted to the virtual space, and confronting them without using up-to-date knowledge and university cooperation is not possible.’
Highlighting the importance of using modern technologies, he added, ‘In areas such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and scientific crime detection, we have a serious need for the university’s scientific capacity so that we can provide more precise and efficient services to the public.’
At the end of the meeting, both sides emphasised the need for continued engagement, expanded scientific interactions and optimal use of shared capacities between the university and the provincial police command.
