Message of IASBS President on Yalda Night

The IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, has issued a message congratulating the arrival of Yalda Night, the longest night of the year, and describing this ancient occasion as an opportunity to honour affection, solidarity, and hope on the path of science and knowledge.

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Yalda, the longest night of the year, recalls the deep-rooted bonds woven into the fabric of the Iranian culture, a night when gatherings are warmed by friendship and sincerity and illuminated by the stories and memories of our ancestors. This night is not only a reminder of an ancient tradition, but also an opportunity to reflect anew on the values that have always drawn us closer together, values such as affection, solidarity, hope, and resilience in the face of hardship.

I extend my congratulations on the arrival of Yalda Night to all responsible faculty members, dedicated staff, and university students. I hope that this night, as a symbol of light after darkness, heralds days filled with success, tranquillity, and prosperity for each and every one of you. Yalda teaches us that even on the longest nights, the light of hope is never extinguished, just as your efforts along the path of science and knowledge shine like a lamp that illuminates the future of human society.

On this ancient night, I wish you lives as long as Yalda, hearts as vast as the sea, and days as fresh as spring. I am confident that the esteemed members of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) community will remain steadfast on the path of wisdom and goodwill and will continue to safeguard and advance the cultural and scientific heritage of this land.

Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari
