The signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been held on scientific, research, and technological cooperation between the Islamic World Science Citation Centre (ISC) and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS). The ceremony, which took place on 27 January 2026 was attended by the members of the IASBS Board of Trustees and representatives of the ISC.
At the outset of the ceremony, the IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, welcomed the guests, members of the University Board of Trustees, and representatives of ISC, and emphasised the importance of expanding scientific and research cooperation among the country’s academic institutions. He described the memorandum as a valuable opportunity to enhance scientific and technological activities and stated that cooperation in science and research between universities and research institutions could pave the way for national scientific growth and progress.
The President of the ISC, Dr Mohammad Mehdi Alavian-Mehr, also addressed the meeting and, referring to the distinguished standing of the IASBS and its scientific and research infrastructure, announced ISC’s readiness to engage in joint projects across various scientific, research, and technological fields.
The programme continued with the presentation of a comprehensive report on the research status and scientific performance of universities, highlighting the need to expand scientific cooperation at both national and international levels. Emphasis was also placed on the optimal use of shared capacities to enhance the country’s scientific standing and to facilitate international collaboration.
The provisions of the memorandum include joint utilisation of information resources, the implementation of collaborative research studies and projects, the quantitative and qualitative enhancement of scientific, research, and technological activities, and the use of the specialised and technological capacities of both parties.
This memorandum is regarded as an effective step towards strengthening scientific and research links among national academic institutions and creating new frameworks for cooperation in science and technology, with the expectation that its outcomes will contribute to the advancement of the country’s scientific and technological standing at both national and international levels.
