Educational and research cooperation between IASBS and Iran Transfo Industrial Group expanded

Educational, research, and technological cooperation between the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) and the Iran Transfo Industrial Group has been further developed through a joint meeting held at the company’s headquarters. The meeting was organised as part of the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the university and the industrial group.

At the outset of the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of the Iran Transfo Industrial Group, Mr Morteza Abdollahi, made reference to the memorandum of understanding signed with the university and emphasised the need for outcome-oriented and operational implementation of its provisions. He described effective and continuous interaction between the industry and the academia as a key factor in creating mutual understanding between academic research projects and the operational needs of the industry.

The CEO of Iran Transfo said that the Iran Transfo Industrial Group operated a research institute and active technical offices, adding that despite ongoing research activities, a significant portion of expert capacity was engaged in production processes, leaving limited opportunity to pursue innovation and emerging scientific topics. He stated that structured cooperation with universities could therefore serve as an effective intellectual arm for industry.

He further proposed the organisation of regular scientific meetings with the university and stressed the importance of utilising intellectual capacities, ideas, and scientific expertise on both sides, as well as ensuring the practical follow-up of issues raised by senior managers. He added that sustained presence in global markets required a clear commitment to innovation, development, progress, and competition with leading countries.

During the meeting, the IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, mentioned the long-standing history and distinguished record of the Iran Transfo Industrial Group and recalled his previous interactions with the company. He described the cooperation as a valuable opportunity to deepen the link between science and industry.

While outlining the national and international capacities and achievements of the university, he highlighted its strong position in producing industry-related scientific and research publications and stated that IASBS ranked among the country’s top ten universities based on scientific and research indicators.

The IASBS President also mentioned the establishment of the country’s first digital transformation centre, the creation of an Internet of Things laboratory in cooperation with research institutes, and the university’s technological capabilities. He underlined the importance of supporting the Research Centre for Basic Sciences and Emerging Technologies, enhancing physical security and infrastructure, and backing national projects, including the data centre and reference laboratory.

In closing, the IASBS President emphasised the need to establish a “Council of Future Companies” with an innovative and forward-looking approach, describing it as a platform for examining emerging issues and designing joint scientific and technological solutions between the academia and  the industry.

At the conclusion of the meeting, members of both organisations exchanged views on the provisions of the cooperation agreement and stressed the importance of sustained engagement, continuous follow-up, and practical implementation of the agreed areas of cooperation.
