A spiritual tree-planting ceremony has been held in memory of 168 student martyrs from Minaab and university students across the country, including the late student martyr Seyed Jaaber Ghaffari. The event took place on 16 March 2026, with the participation of the Governor of Zanjan, university presidents from the province, academic staff, and a group of students in front of the Department of Earth Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS).
During the ceremony, participants planted saplings in remembrance of the honoured martyrs, filling the university with an atmosphere of remembrance, hope, and connection to the values of self-sacrifice and devotion.
The IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, in honouring the memory of Seyed Jaaber Ghaffari and the student martyrs of Minaab, said:
“These saplings symbolise the continuation of the path of those who sacrificed their lives for the truth and dignity of Iran, and today, the youth of this land continue the journey of growth and prosperity in their memory.”
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the commemorative saplings were planted by officials, faculty, and students, and participants offered prayers in memory of the martyrs.
Those attending the spiritual gathering have also strongly condemned the recent American–Zionist attack, describing it as an act of cruelty that violates international law and human rights, and emphasised the need for global adherence to the principles of humanity and justice.
