The IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, has issued a message marking the beginning of the Iranian New Year.
“In the name of the Giver of life to souls
The arrival of the new spring and its auspicious coincidence with Eid al‑Fitr, at a time when our beloved homeland is experiencing an historic and decisive chapter, is an opportunity to extend congratulations and wish you the beginning of a year filled with health and prosperity.
This year’s Nowruz (New Day) has been scented with the remembrance of the martyrdom of the wise leader of the Revolution and the great fighter on the path of truth; a great figure, though whose loss placed a deep sorrow on our hearts, has turned the legacy of his steadfastness into a guiding light for us along this difficult path. Today, under the firm guidance of the Supreme Leader and amid a struggle that has targeted the dignity and authority of Iran, Eid al‑Fitr for us is a manifestation of ‘divine victory’ and the reward for the patience of a nation that has remained faithful to its lofty ideals.
At this sensitive juncture, we believe that the main bastion for defending the homeland is the ‘bastion of knowledge and thought’. The Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS), as a centre of excellence and insight, bears a heavier responsibility than ever before. We believe that committed science and expertise blended with faith are the sharpest weapons against ill‑wishers and the guarantee of the flourishing of Islamic Iran. As our martyred elites demonstrated, the path to human excellence passes through scientific endeavour and self‑sacrifice.
I hope that in the year ahead, relying on the unparalleled scientific capacities of the university and in the light of solidarity and dedication, we will be able to take firmer steps along the path of innovation and service to society and play a lasting role in defending the realm of knowledge and the homeland.
I ask Almighty God to grant the exalted soul of our martyred leader the highest ranks and to bless you, the great university family, with a year full of health, victory, and increasing success.”
