Joint statement by Cultural Vice-President and IASBS Lecturers’ Baseej on anniversary of Khorramshahr’s liberation

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Joint statement by the Cultural Vice-President and the IASBS Lecturers’ Baseej on the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr

The third of Khordad, 24 May, the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr, has been an enduring symbol of national dignity, resistance, and the steadfast will of the Iranian nation against aggression and oppression. This enduring epic has been shaped by the deep faith, sincere self-sacrifice, and remarkable unity of the Islamic fighters, and it has displayed the strength of the Islamic Republic of Iran before the eyes of the world.

The liberation of Khorramshahr is a magnificent manifestation of the ‘jihadi spirit’, ‘self-belief’, and ‘culture of sacrifice’. It is the same spirit that can still serve today, in new scientific, cultural, and social arenas, as the driving force of progress and the guarantor of national strength. The key to repeating that great victory lies in the continual revisiting and scholarly interpretation of that precious treasure for the younger generation, especially for the university community.

While honouring the memory of the distinguished martyrs of the Sacred Defence, especially the esteemed martyrs of Operation Beit ol-Moghaddas, the Cultural Vice-President and the IASBS Lecturers’ Baseej emphasise their belief that the great mission of the university is to promote and deepen the ‘culture of sacrifice and resistance’ in a new language suited to contemporary needs, to strengthen the spirit of ‘social responsibility’, and to prepare the ground for ‘jihadi movement for the ideals of the Islamic Revolution’. University is a centre for the production of thought and hope, and this epic is full of lessons to rise higher along this honourable path.

We extend our congratulations on this epic occasion to every member of the great university family, including lecturers, students, and staff, and ask Almighty God to grant success to all in travelling the path of dignity and the advancement of beloved Iran.

Peace, and God’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
