In His Name the Most High
The 24th of May has marked the anniversary of the glorious liberation of Khorramshahr. This event in contemporary Iranian history has stood as more than a strategic victory, serving as the objective embodiment of national will and a lasting symbol of resilience in the face of adversity. For us, Khorramshahr is not merely a geography, but a school in which faith in a goal and reliance on internal capacity have changed the most difficult equations in favour of truth and justice.
In the sphere of scientific activities and for the academic community, the epic of the liberation of Khorramshahr has carried a profound and guiding message: that the protection of the independence and advancement of a nation has always passed through the path of knowledge, insight, and persistence. If, in those days, the sacrifice of the children of this land freed Khorramshahr from captivity, today our heavy responsibility in the institution of research and technology is to strive for the conquest of scientific peaks that guarantee the authority and sustainable prosperity of the country. We believe that the way to honour those great struggles is through intelligent movement towards scientific authority and the conversion of ideas into problem-solving achievements for our dear homeland.
Inspired by the spirit of self-belief and national cohesion of that era, we, at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS), today consider it our duty to confront fundamental challenges, in the trenches of science production, with a transformative outlook and, by relying on elite capacity, to play an effective role in the brilliance of Iran’s name in global arenas. We are certain that scientific development and the achievement of new technologies is the continuation of the same path that began with the liberation of Khorramshahr, and its goal is the eternal pride of this ancient land.
While commemorating the memory of the high-ranking martyrs and the valuable veterans of the Sacred Defence, I offer congratulations on this auspicious day to all lecturers, researchers, staff, students, and employees of the university, and ask Almighty God for everyone’s success in serving our homeland and advancement of culture and knowledge.
