Faculty members from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) have visited the Rasha Caspian Iranian paper mill to enhance scientific and industrial engagement. This visit took place to evaluate industrial capabilities, identify potential areas for research and technological cooperation, and foster effective communication between the university and industry.
At the beginning of the programme, company managers and experts outlined the firm’s history, capacities, and achievements. The Rasha Caspian Iranian paper complex, which began operations in 2013 following private sector investment, has become the country’s largest producer of paper and cardboard, with an annual capacity of 380,000 tonnes, and exports its products to international markets alongside domestic supply.
The faculty members subsequently toured various sections of the factory and production lines, where they were introduced to the production processes for different types of paper and cardboard, advanced equipment, quality control systems, utilised technologies, and the group’s development plans. Furthermore, company experts provided specialised explanations regarding production stages, raw materials, energy management, quality control, and the outlook for the factory’s second phase of development.
Following the field visit, a joint meeting was held between the faculty and the company’s management. During this session, potential areas of collaboration were discussed including research initiatives, provision of scientific solutions to industrial challenges, implementation of research projects, technological development, and utilisation of the university’s scientific expertise.
In conclusion, both parties emphasised the need for expanding industry-university interactions, leveraging the scientific capabilities of the IASBS faculty members, and implementing joint research and technological projects. The visit was assessed as an effective step towards strengthening the link between the university and industry, and utilising scientific capacities for the development and resolution of the technological needs of the province’s industries.
