D Dr Mohammad Hossein Alizadeh has been appointed as the new Head of the Department of Mathematics at IASBS, with the ceremony taking place in the presence of the IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, the Vice-President for Administration, Finance, Education, and Research, Prof Zaare-Nahandi, and the former Head of the Department of Mathematics, Dr Ali Akbar Yazdanpour.

During the meeting, the IASBS President acknowledged the services of Dr Ali Akbar Yazdanpour during his tenure as the Head of the Mathematics Department, and emphasised the need to continue the scientific and educational path of the Department and utilise the capacities of the faculty members and students to realise the university’s goals.

He identified the development and deepening of fundamental and applied research, the improvement of educational quality, the strengthening of interdisciplinary activities, and the support of innovative ideas as key priorities for the Department, and emphasised the necessity of creating a suitable environment for nurturing scientific talent.

According to a decree issued by the IASBS President, Dr Mohammad Hossein Alizadeh has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Mathematics for a two-year term, based on his commitment, competence, and valuable scientific and managerial record, taking effect from 23 August 2026.

In a section of this decree, the utilisation of the scientific and professional capacities of faculty members and students has been highlighted to improve educational quality, develop fundamental and applied research, strengthen interdisciplinary activities, and support innovative ideas. Additionally, student recruitment based on the university’s strategic plan, the strengthening of the Department’s educational capacities, and the effective utilisation of the existing scientific and professional capabilities are other focal points emphasised in the decree.

The decree also stresses the importance of attention to scientific and ethical values, the strengthening of cooperation and scientific responsibility, and efforts to elevate the status of the Department of Mathematics in science and technology.

Furthermore, in another decree, the services and efforts of Dr Ali Akbar Yazdanpour during his tenure as the Head of the Department of Mathematics have been acknowledged, and his hard work in developing the Department’s scientific and educational activities is appreciated.

The decree concludes by wishing Dr Mohammad Hossein Alizadeh success in his new responsibilities, while extending gratitude to Dr Ali Akbar Yazdanpour for his continued scientific and professional contributions.
