The IASBS President, accompanied by a group of university vice-presidents and managers, has met with the Director General of the Zanjan IRIB Centre, Mr Reza Sattaripour, to discuss expanding media cooperation, introducing the university’s scientific and research capacities, and strengthening the connection between the university and society.
During the meeting, the IASBS President congratulated Mr Reza Sattaripour on his appointment as the Director General of the Zanjan IRIB Centre, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support provided by the IRIB in recent years, and emphasised the vital role of the media in introducing the university’s scientific capacities and achievements.
Highlighting the scientific standing of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences, Prof Nasiri Gheydari stated: “This university is one of the leading institutions and holds an excellent position across various scientific and research indices.” He further noted the presence of prominent faculty members and talented students at the university, stressing the necessity of introducing these capacities to society and thanking the Zanjan IRIB Centre for reflecting the university’s activities and achievements.
During the meeting, the Director General of the Zanjan IRIB Centre noted the IASBS’s prominent position within the country’s scientific landscape and emphasised the importance of continued media cooperation with the university.
Mr Reza Sattaripour suggested that the university could provide the IRIB with periodic updates on its key achievements, events, and scientific developments to facilitate effective media planning and coverage. He emphasised that the IRIB’s capabilities extend far beyond news reporting, noting that radio programmes, television productions, documentaries, and digital platforms could also be utilised to showcase the university’s scientific expertise.
The two sides discussed the importance of celebrating Basic Science Day and the role of the media in promoting science and increasing public awareness. They also emphasised the necessity of introducing the university’s scientific achievements and distinguished faculty to the public, while utilising media resources to strengthen the connection between the university and society.
Another key focus of the meeting was the presentation of the “Science Night” programme. The Head of the University Science House, Dr Daraei, providing details about the event, stated that “Science Night” aims to promote science, strengthen the university’s social responsibility, and create a two-way connection between the university and society.
He added: “In this event, the university opens its doors to the general public, with programmes including the display of scientific and research achievements, the holding of workshops, lectures, and scientific and educational activities for various segments of society.”
Noting the anticipation of widespread public interest in the event, Dr Daraei also stressed the importance of cooperation from various provincial entities, particularly the municipality and the Zanjan IRIB Centre, in the publicity and media coverage of “Science Night.”
Mr Reza Sattaripour said the Zanjan IRIB Centre was ready to provide media support for the event, emphasising the use of various capacities, including news, radio, television, and digital platforms, to introduce and cover “Science Night.” He stated that efforts would be made to ensure broader coverage of the event at both the provincial and national network levels.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasised the importance of maintaining regular interaction and cooperation between the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences and the Zanjan IRIB Centre, alongside the need for joint coordination and planning for the media coverage of scientific events, particularly “Science Night.”
