In line with the green management policies at the IASBS, the construction of the University’s sewage treatment system began in September 2018 and went into initial operation in March 2019.
The capacity of the treatment system is 60 cubic meters per day. The waste water from student dormitories enters the treatment facility and is pumped out after it is treated.
The proper operation of the treatment service required periodic tests to ensure that the quality of the outflowing purified water was satisfactory. All necessary tests were carried out at regular intervals, as a result of which, high quality work started officially at the treatment facility in summer 2019, filtering all waste water from the male dormitories. The number of multiplied and active microorganisms in the system, the quality of the purified water, the number of suspended particles, and the colour of the water stand at a satisfactory level.
The treatment facility is located where its output can be used to water the trees and vegetation to the south of the male dormitories. There are plans to expand the filtering service. Pipes have been laid from the Najafi Canteen to the treatment site. By adding reservoirs and the necessary installations, it would be possible to treat the waste water from the canteen as well.
