Visit by the DG for International Students A delegation from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology headed by the Director General of the Department for Non-Iranian (International) Students paid a one-day visit to the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) on Wednesday, 5 December 2018.
The delegation was formally received by the IASBS President, Prof Babak Karimi, in his office. This was followed by a ceremony at the Chemistry Lecture Hall during which Prof Karimi talked about the characteristics of the IASBS, issues relating to internationalisation, and the importance of being seen among the other universities of the world describing the factors and mechanisms of internationalisation.
A press conference was held afterwards during which Prof Karimi said more than 4% of the IASBS faculty took sabbatical leave abroad. He said the University intended to absorb at least 10% foreign students next year.
After the press conference, Dr Alizaadeh visited various labs in the Physics and Chemistry Departments, the Torkamaan Library, the University mosque, the international students’ dormitory, and other welfare facilities of the University. Referring to the University’s high potential to absorb international students, he stated that the scientific and cultural infrastructure of the IASBS was highly suitable and desirable.
